The Nutcracker opens at the Auditorium Theatre
The Joffrey Ballet performs The Nutcracker starting December 5

Every December, the Joffrey Ballet brings its magical production back to the Auditorium Theatre. This classic story brings the familiar characters Clara, the Nutcracker, Lord Drosselmeyer and the Sugar Plum Fairy to life through gorgeous costumes and beautiful dancing.
Joffrey Ballet founder Robert Joffrey originally choreographed the ballet in 1987. Joffrey Balllet co-founder Gerald Arpino contributed to important pieces -- Land of the Snow and Kingdom of Sweets. Their choreography stands nearly intact almost 30 years later.
What makes this Nutcracker version work so beautifully is the way all the elements flow together. The gorgeous costumes add layers to the story. Sometimes the costumes seem like they add depth to the scenery. Other times the costumes are stunning accessories during the dancing.
