Objection To La Grange Overnight Parking Ban
A resident asked the Village Board for a solution for renters like himself.

LA GRANGE, IL – A La Grange resident this week objected to the village's overnight parking rule, which he said made it tough for renters like himself.
Like many other suburbs, the village bans parking on streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Resident Derek Johnson, who lives in an apartment on Bluff Avenue, said his landlord granted each unit only one parking space. That means those with more than one car must park on the street, he said.

"There is no solution from what I've been told by the village and the police department," Johnson told the Village Board. "I just wanted to come here and see if we can find a solution."
In response, Village President Mark Kuchler said the parking rule applies village-wide.

"We'll make sure someone from the village reaches out to you and tell you if there is a solution," he said. "I'm not overly hopeful."
He said a public or private garage may be available, but that would come at a cost.
"Did the landlord explain to you that there's only one spot and we have no parking from 2 to 6?" Kuchler said.
Johnson said the landlord did not "outwardly express it," saying he was unaware of the rule until he moved in.
Kuchler said the village may want to work with the landlord to advise tenants of the rule.
"It's obviously problematic for units that have more than one car," he said.
