Car Chase Prompted Police Response, Lockdown Of Schools
Police activity remains in the area bounded by Plainfield Road, Brainard Avenue, 55th Street and Willow Springs Road.

LA GRANGE, IL — An armed robbery investigation resulted in a car chase that ended in a crash at the intersection of Brainard Avenue and Plainfield Road Thursday afternoon. La Grange Police said a tactical unit, including the Chicago Police and U.S. Marshalls, were involved in the pursuit of a car with occupants wanted for an investigation into crimes, including armed robbery.
The chase started in Lyons and came through La Grange, police said. Several schools, including Lyons Township High School, were placed onto soft lockdown as a search of the area was completed.
Originally, LTHS said on its website that three individuals were apprehended, while one individual fled the scene. La Grange Police said information obtained suggests that all suspects have been apprehended.

LTHS said on its website it has lifted the soft lockdown as of 3:10 p.m. Thursday.
"Local police advised LT that there is no reason to remain in soft lockdown or cancel after school activities," the school said. Police officers were stationed at LTHS and the other schools to assist with dismissal of students this afternoon.

However, there is still a continued police presence in the area bounded by Plainfield Road, Brainard Avenue, 55th Street and Willow Springs Road. According to the school, LTHS is delaying buses to that region while staff speaks with those students who live in the affected area. As students make their way home, they should be aware of their surroundings and remain alert.
Patch has reached out to La Grange and Western Springs police departments but has not received a response.
