Police Investigate Social Media Threat At Lyons Township HS

La Grange Police responded at 3:30 a.m. Thursday to a call related to a social media post that vaguely described a potential threat at LT.

LA GRANGE, IL — La Grange Police responded at 3:30 a.m. Thursday to a call related to a social media post that vaguely described a potential threat at Lyons Township High School, police said. The La Grange Police Department, Western Springs Police Department and Lyons Township High School worked to quickly identify possible sources and initiate a safety plan for the start of the school day on Thursday.

According to police, the information was provided to police by a third part and an investigation immediately began to determine the source of the post and the credibility of the potential threat.

Police said a suspected juvenile was identified, voluntarily submitted to an interview and provided information about the social media message. This is an active police matter and the suspected juvenile continues to cooperate with the investigation.

In addition to the police investigation, the juvenile also faces potential school discipline, police said. Anyone with information is asked to notify the La Grange Police Department at (708) 579-2333.
