Rabid Bat Found In La Grange Park

A bat found on Stone Avenue Tuesday has been determined to be rabid.

LA GRANGE PARK, IL — On Tuesday, Aug. 13 a bat was found in the 600 block of North Stone Avenue in La Grange Park. A rabies examination by the Illinois State Public Health Laboratory showed it was rabid.

The village of La Grange Park has urged residents and everyone else to watch their pets and always keep them on leashes when outside. Also, Anyone in the area who has been exposed to or bitten by a rat recently should see their doctor.

Don't personally handle any bats, skunks or other wild animals. Contact the Cook County Department of Animal Control if you find one.
