Retired La Grange Police Officer Passes Away

Murray who began his service as a police officer in 1980, and served in many roles including Field Training Office and evidence technician.

LA GRANGE, IL — A retired La Grange Police officer recently passed away, the La Grange Police Department shared on Facebook. Duane Murray, who began his service as a police officer in 1980, was an expert accident reconstructionist, a skilled evidence technician, a knowledgeable truck enforcement officer and a respected Field Training Officer, the department said.

Murray retired from full-time service in May 2010. After his retirement, he was a part-time officer with the Morraine Valley Community College Police Department. He later returned to La Grange Police Department as a part-time officer, before fully retiring in December 2014.

The department said Murray's dedicated service to the residents of the Village of LaGrange was appreciated and missed upon his full retirement.

"Duane, as he was known to us, was best known for his calm demeanor and an incredible sense of humor. Duane's presence would ease the most difficult situations," the department said on Facebook.
