Road Rage, Fake Boss: La Grange Cops

A driver is accused of accosting another in a confrontation in a local neighborhood, police said.

LA GRANGE, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving road rage, a fake boss scam, domestic battery and burglary. Here is information from the latest La Grange police reports:

Road rage

  • A driver complained that someone cut him off in traffic and then accosted him outside his car about 9:30 p.m. July 29 at Cossitt and Brainard avenues. The other driver accused the first one of brake-checking him. A check of area doorbell cameras was inconclusive. Police listed the case as a battery.

  • A resident in the 400 block of South Blackstone Avenue told police Aug. 1 that someone posing as her boss instructed her to buy $600 worth of Apple gift cards from a local grocery store. After leaving the store, she received a notification that an Apple Air Tag had been placed on her car. No Air Tag was found. A check of the store's surveillance camera was inconclusive.

Domestic battery

  • An argument between two adult siblings in the 200 block of Eighth Avenue turned physical with one person grabbing and shaking the other. No complaints were signed. The report was filed Aug. 1.

Burglary

  • Three people were seen on surveillance camera breaking into the back door of a business at 22 W. Calendar Ave. The door area was damaged, but nothing was stolen. The report was filed Aug. 3.
  • A bicycle valued at more than $700 was stolen from a garage in the 200 block of South Madison Avenue. It was unknown if the garage was locked. No video was available. The report was filed Aug. 5.
