The Selfish Giant comes to life

As we await signs of Spring, the Selfish Giant brings beauty to stage at the Ruth Page Center.

The Selfish Giant is a beautiful stage show performed with puppets, live music and a lovely story. Blair Thomas & Company bring their originally created the show for the Chicago Children’s Theatre in 2008. The Selfish Giant remains one of the Chicago Children’s Theatre’s most popular productions.

Chicago Master Puppeteer Blair Thomas and Chicago folk music legend Michael Smith collaborated on the original story, which takes the audience through the story of a selfish giant who won’t allow local children to play in his garden. After the children are locked out, the flowers and trees refuse to grow. It’s only when the children sneak into the garden that the plants come back to life. Michael Smith performs the music live at each performance.

This show is a treat for all ages. The Selfish Giant runs January 23 - February 22 at the Ruth Page Center (1016 N. Dearborn) in Chicago. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.chicagochildrenstheatre.org.
