St. Francis Xavier School Celebrates 5th Annual All-School Service Day

St. Francis Xavier School students make a world of difference at their 5th annual Service Day on December 5, 2014.

Students at Saint Francis Xavier School in La Grange prove that one day can indeed make a difference and have a positive impact on the lives of thousands in our community and around the world. Friday, December 5 was the 5th annual all-school Service Day at Saint Francis Xavier School.

597 students, 173 parent volunteers, and 55 faculty members headed out to do service projects. Partnering with organizations both in and around Chicago, students engaged in hands-on activities to help make a difference in the lives of others. Service Day assignments included packing food at Feed My Starving Children, visiting with Bethlehem Woods residents, honoring our veterans at the VFW Hall, delivering winter clothing to Marillac House and working side by side with the developmentally disadvantaged at Misericordia. The day ended with an all-school Celebration Assembly at 2 pm in the gym where a photo slide show of the day’s activities and a recap from students experiences were shared.

Principal Deb Rodde shared, “Service Day is my favorite day at St. Francis Xavier School. Our students beautifully demonstrate that it is not only our duty, but our privilege, to serve those in need.”
