Sunday's 23rd Annual Race Unity Day Rally to Recognize Diversity

The CommUNITY Diversity Group is also sponsoring a free movie screening Friday.

In addition to CommUNITY’s annual diversity celebration, this year’s Race Unity Rally will be preceded by a free screening and discussion of “The Butler,” directed by Lee Daniels.

The movie will be shown Friday, Sept. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the La Grange Public Library, according to the Village of La Grange website.

In it’s 23rd year, the Race Unity Day Rally is themed “Then and Now: 50 Years after the 1964 Civil Rights Act.” The event will once again combine village history and diversity celebration.

The rally will be held Sunday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. in the La Grange Village Hall Auditorium.

According to an event flier, this year’s rally features include:

  • Rev. Theodore Moran, Davis Memorial AME Church
  • “Watch My Feet” Performers, The LeaderShop
  • Village of La Grange Unity Proclamation
  • CDG Diversity Award: Peace & Justice Sisters of St. Joseph
  • Introducing Dr. Brian Waterman, new LTHS Principal
