'System Glitch' Sends Out False 'Active Threat' Message At Argo Community High School

"Responding police departments have confidence that there was no credible threat," Dist. 217 officials say in a statement.

SUMMIT, IL—Summit police responded to Argo Community High School Monday afternoon after the dispatch center received an automated call of an “active threat” at the school that later turned out to be false, authorities said.

The incident unfolded at 1:38 p.m. The school resource officer was contacted, and out of an abundance of caution, a lockdown was initiated.

Officers searched the school and cleared it of any threats. It was discovered that the call was a result of a system glitch with the phone system, and the message was sent.
