Rosé wines are the perfect summer wine and each year around this time the new vintage (in this case 2012) begins to trickle in with intensity. The rosé sections on wine lists begin to expand and we are reminded, yet again, of the borderline-hysteric popularity of rosé in this country.
The majority of rosé wines are made from red grape varietals including Pinot Noir, Syrah, Grenache, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon just to name a few. Our rosé section is in full bloom and the variety is as diverse as the regions they come from around the world. With their inexpensive price they are a refreshing summer treat as the temperature rises. Served chilled, with flavors that are more subtle versions of their red wine varietal counterparts. On the palate expect to taste a range of strawberry, cherry and raspberry with some citrus and a pleasant lip smacking acidity. Rosé wines also top the charts for food-friendly versatility. Pink is not sweet so consider one the next time you entertain~they pair with everything!! Cheers!
