Veterans Day 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In La Grange
Here's what's going on on Veterans Day in La Grange.

LA GRANGE, IL — Veterans Day this year is Saturday, Nov. 11. Several events will be held in La Grange to honor those who have served. Since the day falls on a Saturday this year, schools will not have a day off, and village offices will not have a day of observance.
What's Open? What's Closed for Veterans Day?
- Banks: Most are closed. Call your bank if you're thinking of stopping by.
- Post Offices: Closed
- Federal Offices: Closed
- Trash Pickup: Normal
- Most restaurants will be open, some will offer discount to active military personnel and veterans.
LTHS Assemblies

- Both campuses at LTHS will hold Veterans Day assemblies on Friday, Nov. 10. South Campus' will take place in the field house at 9:30 a.m., while North Campus' will take place in their field house at 12 p.m.
Brookfield Zoo Veterans Day Ceremony
- The Chicago Zoological Society invites the public to a special Veterans Day ceremony at Brookfield Zoo on Saturday, Nov. 11. On Veterans Day, admission to the zoo is free for all guests, although parking fees still apply. The zoo said from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests can view an array of military memorabilia, including uniforms and documents, from the Revolutionary War to the present. The ceremony begins at 12:45 p.m. in the zoo's Discovery Center with the posting of colors performed by members of Joliet Township High School's ROTC, followed by singing of the National Anthem, according to the zoo.
