The Veterans Memorial Committee announced today that the road to reaching $85,000 just passed the $45,000 mile marker. With $25,835 received and another $20,000 in firm pledges collecting enough money to complete 100% of the construction plan on or before December 31st looks good.
While there have been multiple $1,000 and above donations, the majority of money collected to date has come from the sale of engraved bricks that will be installed at the memorial site. There are two sizes of bricks available. The 4”x8” brick, which sells for $100 each, can accommodate up to three lines of print and up to 20 spaces per line. The larger 8”x8” brick, selling for $200 each, can have up to 6 lines and 20 spaces per line. Those wishing to honor a family member and/or friend veteran should know that the first bricks ordered will be installed closest to the Memorial Wall.
Veterans Memorial Committee would like to reach the $85,000 goal on or before December 31st in order to allow ample time to complete construction before May 17, 2014 when the first ceremony will take place.
