Violent Threats, $9K Scam: La Grange Cops
A man was charged after making threats against another in a local neighborhood, police said.

LA GRANGE, IL – La Grange police released their latest blotter Friday. Here is information from the latest police reports:
Assault
- James Jelic, 25, of Cicero, was cited about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Goodman and Leitch avenues on a charge of simple assault. He is accused of threatening violence against someone during an argument.
$9,000 scam

- A resident in the 10 block of South Waiola Avenue told police Saturday about being the victim of a scam. The suspect told the resident that the resident's Amazon account was compromised. The suspect asked the resident to buy $9,000 in gift cards for the account to be fixed. Police said the resident paid the money, but was working to stop the transfer and get reimbursed for the loss.
Vandalism
- Nikodem Kurzeja, 19, of Palos Hills, was cited about 9:30 a.m. Friday in the 10 block of South La Grange Road on a charge of damage to village property. According to a police report, he poured soap into the village fountain, causing damage.
- A parking garage at 80 Sixth Ave. was reported damaged about 10 p.m. Monday because of fireworks set on fire.
- A building in the 700 block of West Hillgrove Avenue was twice reported damaged Wednesday. A side of the building was spray-painted.
- Several cars were reported damaged about 6:30 a.m. Thursday near the apartment building at 15 S. Spring Ave. The damage was believed to have been caused by a sharp object.
Locked bike stolen

- A locked children's bicycle was stolen between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday from the bike rack near Burlington Avenue and La Grange Road. The bike was valued at $850. The lock was cut.
Driving violations
- Santiago Alfaro Saucedo, 38, of Northlake, was cited about 5:30 a.m. June 28 at 48th Street and La Grange Road on charges of no valid driver's license, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding and driving with a suspended registration.
- Sergio Escobedo, 31, of Carpentersville, was cited shortly after midnight June 30 at La Grange Road and Cossitt Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license and driving an uninsured vehicle.
- Abiola Taiwo, 60, of Chicago, was cited about 2:30 a.m. June 30 at Ogden and Madison avenues on charges of no valid driver's license and driving without lights when required.
- Kayla Taylor, 26, of Chicago, was cited about 7 a.m. Saturday at La Grange Road and Harris Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding and driving with an expired registration.
