W. Kerry Brunette, La Grange Park Village Clerk, Dies
A 'well-respected,' member of the village, he held the village clerk position for 18 years.

W. Kerry Brunette, village clerk in La Grange Park for 18 years, died April 18 at age 62.
James L. Discipio, village president, said Mr. Brunette, “was just a wonderful person, a great professional and a consummate gentleman.'
“He also brought out the best with everyone he worked with; he was well-respected. It is just sad we won’t have the privilege of having him as part of our community,” the president said.

Other members of the village agreed.
“He was a wonderful man,” said Andrea Bagley, interim village clerk. “I’ve never heard a bad word spoken about him.”

She described Mr. Brunette as humble, sweet and kind.
“He’ll be terribly missed, for sure,” Bagley said.
Julia Cedillo, interim village manager, wrote on the village’s Web site that,
“Kerry truly enjoyed his work as the village clerk and was very dedicated at his post where he felt he was able to do his part in ensuring honest and efficient elections. With an upbeat personality and great sense of humor, Kerry was known by the Village Board and village employees to be very knowledgeable and kind—always ready and willing to help. For these reasons and so many more—Kerry will be missed.”
Mr. Brunette was in the middle of a four-year term as clerk, a position he had held since 1993.
He had lived in La Grange Park for 32 years and had retired in October 2010 as an insurance specialist for the Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp, also known as Metra.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 W. 31st, Brookfield, followed by a 10 o’clock Mass at St. Louise de Marllac Church, 30th Street and Raymond Avenue, La Grange Park. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
He was an usher at St. Louis de Marillac Church in La Grange Park, involved with the American Cancer Society; and was secretary and past president of the Brookfield-La Grange Park Lions Club and past district zone chairman for the Lions.
Survivors include one daughter, Meghan (Bob) Rogers; two brothers, Mark and Brian (Jill); nieces; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha M., nee McCrery, who died in May 2010.
