Where Tax Hike For Parks In La Grange Won't Go
La Grange voters are set to decide on a $13.9 million referendum to pay for projects.
LA GRANGE, IL – The head of the Park District of La Grange's board said Tuesday the money from a proposed tax increase would go to capital projects, not day-to-day spending.
In response to a Patch inquiry, Brian Opyd, president of the park board, encouraged residents to visit the park district's website to see the details of its plan.
In the Nov. 5 election, local voters are set to decide on allowing the district to go into debt by $13.9 million for nearly 25 years to pay for projects at local parks.

The property tax increase is expected to cost the owner of a $500,000 house an extra $71 a year, according to the park district.
