Youth Talent Show is the Opening Act at Memorial Park
Wednesday night Memorial Park hosts a special edition of Music Under the Stars with a local talent show followed by a performance by On the House.
Multiple performances are on the bill for La Grange Park’s next at Memorial Park, located at Woodlawn Avenue and La Grange Road, this Wednesday, July 13.
To start things off, local children will be showing off their talents in a talent show. The kids started the audition process in late June and now the top six acts will perform for cash prizes. Three age groups will each feature two acts.
Darla Goudeau, recreation supervisor of special events for La Grange Park, participated in all the try-outs this year.

“We have a nice mix of kids with some great talent," Goudeau said. "The oldest trying out this year was 16 or 17, so it’s a young group over all.”
Though many tried out for the opportunity to preform at the park, only six acts will get the chance to show their stuff.

“We had a total of 25 to 30 (kids) trying out for a total of six spots. The finalists include two vocalists, one duet, and three bands. It’s going to be a great show,” Goudeau said.
The winner of each age group will receive $100 and the runners-up receive $50.
Following the talent show, the band On the House will perform. According to their website they are an acoustic rock and country band with an edge. The cover songs performed will include songs by Bon Jovi, Journey, Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown and Matchbox 20 to name a few.
It’s sure to be a fun night with a great mix of talent. Come out and support our local kids as they give it their all up on the stage and then enjoy the music of On the House.
