Youths Cause Trouble In La Grange: Cops

They are fighting and hurting others with toy guns, police said.

LA GRANGE, IL – Youths are starting fights to get on social media and using toy guns with gel pellets or water beads against others, La Grange police said Wednesday.

"We ask that parents please speak with their kids as we head into summer about making responsible choices," the La Grange Police Department said in a Facebook post. "Some of these incidents may be thought of as 'kids being kids.' LGPD wants all of our residents to have a fun and safe summer."

The police said youths are getting into fights, with some of them posted on social media.

Other youths are using Orbeez or GelBlaster toy guns to shoot youths or adults they do not know, police said.

"In some of these incidents, people have been hurt," police said in the Facebook post. "These incidents could result in a juvenile/adult arrest if the victim who has been injured wishes to pursue complaints."

Police have taken a number of reports of graffiti and criminal damage. Also, combination locks are being put into the spokes of bicycle tires, causing riders to fall, police said.
