15-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shoots Man During Marijuana Deal: Police
Two boys face armed robbery charges in juvenile court — and one of them is charged with the first-degree murder of 27-year-old James Hicks.

WAUKEGAN, IL — Investigators believe a pair of 15-year-old Lake County boys fatally shot a man Sunday in Park City during an argument over a marijuana deal.
James Hicks, of North Chicago, was pronounced dead after he was found outside an apartment complex in the 700 block of Sharon Avenue, where he had collapsed after being shot around noon, according to the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.
Hicks, 27, was riding in the back seat of a car with two other people when they drove to meet and sell cannabis to the two teenagers — one from Waukegan, the other from Gurnee — according to the task force.

Investigators determined that they began to argue during the transaction, and the Waukegan boy pulled out a gun and fired "several times," according to task force spokesperson Chris Covelli, who said the details about the dispute would be presented in court.
Hicks was struck with multiple bullets, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office. He collapsed shortly after exiting the vehicle.

Prosecutors approved juvenile court charges of armed robbery for both teenagers and a charge of first-degree murder for the Waukegan boy who is accused of the shooting, Covelli said. More charges are possible for the Gurnee boy.
As of Wednesday, both were being held at the Hulse Juvenile Detention Facility in Vernon Township.
