181 Citations Issued During Holiday Enforcement in Lake Co.

Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies held a traffic enforcement campaign over the Fourth of July holiday.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued 181 citations during a Fourth of July traffic enforcement campaign.

Of the citations and arrests made, sheriff’s office deputies arrested 8 for drunken driving and two for drug charges and issued 71 seat belt citations and 35 speeding tickets.

Law Enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this statewide effort to get drunk drivers off our roadways and encourage seat belt use, especially during late- night hours.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with state and other local law enforcement agencies in conducting the crackdown campaign. This included high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities including a media campaign and additional police activity.

Extra emphasis was given to the late-night hours when statistics show the highest number of motorists drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.

The recent law enforcement crackdown was funded by the federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
