44-Year-Old Waukegan Woman Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Green Bay Road
Alcohol is thought to have been involved after a Streamwood man drove his pickup into oncoming traffic Thursday in unincorporated Waukegan.

WAUKEGAN, IL — Investigators believe the driver of a pickup truck may have been drunk when he crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into an oncoming sedan Thursday in unincorporated Waukegan Township, killing the front seat passenger, authorities said.
Deputies were dispatched around 5:15 a.m. to a report of a crash with injuries on Green Bay Road near Johns Mansville Avenue, where they found two heavily damaged cars — a Ford F-150 and a Toyota Camry, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the incident along with the Lake County Coroner's Office.
Deputy Chief Chris Covelli said alcohol was likely a factor leading to the behavior of the pickup truck driver, a 43-year-old Streamwood man. Based on the preliminary investigation, crash investigators determined that he was driving the F-150 south on Green Bay Road when he crossed over the double-yellow lines and collided with the Camry, Covelli said.

Ambrocia Romero, 44, of Waukegan, was sitting in the front seat of the Camry when the Streamwood man crashed into it and died at the scene, according to the coroner's office. The results of an autopsy conducted later Thursday indicated that she died from multiple blunt force injuries resulting from the crash.
The Toyota's driver, a 58-year-old Waukegan woman, and another passenger were taken in ambulances to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.
