88-Year-Old Man Orders Pickpocket to Drop the Wallet He Lifted: Police

The Lake Forest shopper suspected something wasn't right when he was bumped in the produce section.

LAKE BLUFF, IL — An 88-year-old man stopped a pick pocket from taking off with his wallet while he was shopping at a Lake Bluff grocery store, the Daily North Shore reports.

The Lake Forest man was shopping Monday, Aug. 29, at Heinen's Grocery Store when he felt another person bump him as he was reaching for a plastic baggie in the produce section, the report states. The shopper then noticed another man walking away with his wallet, the report added.

According to police, the man shouted to the sticky-fingered suspect, ordering him to drop the wallet, the Daily North Shore reports. The pickpocket threw the billfold to the floor, fled the store and drove off in a blue Jeep Liberty, according to the report.

Nothing was taken from the wallet, and no one was hurt during the incident, the report stated.
