The Lake Forest-based company announced Wednesday it will no longer sell to prisons or wholesalers who deal with them.

Lake Forest specialty drugmaker Akorn Inc. has vowed to prevent its products from being used for executions, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Wednesday.
The company has adopted a policy promoting use of its products to promote human health in release of the following statement:
“The employees of Akorn are committed to furthering human health and wellness through our vast portfolio of products. In the interest of promoting these values, Akorn strongly objects to the use of its products to conduct or support capital punishment through lethal injection or other means.”
