LAKE FOREST, IL — Lake Forest residents will have four chances this fall to meet with their aldermen during the city's Coffee in the Park series, a set of weekend morning gatherings scheduled in parks across the city's wards.
The city said the events are meant to complement spring Ward Meetings. The city described Coffee in the Park as a chance for residents to connect with their aldermen in a more casual setting this fall.
The first two meetings are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19. Ward 1 residents can meet Aldermen Nancy Novit and Pete Clemens from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Forest Park Beach North Pavilion, 701 N. Lake Rd. Later that day, Ward 4 residents can meet Aldermen Richard Walther and Lloyd Culbertson from 11 a.m. to noon at the Everett Park Pavilion, 1191 Everett School Rd.
The Ward 2 event is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Waveland Park Pavilion, 600 Waveland Rd., with Aldermen John Powers and Rosemary Kehr. The Ward 3 meeting will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Elawa Park Pavilion, 1001 Jensen Dr., with Aldermen Alice LeVert and Nick Bothfeld.
The city said refreshments will be provided. Families are welcome to attend, as the meetings are being held in parks so young children can use the playground while adults talk with aldermen.
The city also made sure the meetings were scheduled on weekend mornings rather than a weekday evening to make attendance easier for people who work during the week.
