Northbrook, IL – November 2026– Celebrating another year of strengthening the community and making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families, the North Suburban YMCA (NSYMCA) held its Annual Meeting in October, reflecting on the organization's accomplishments, community impact, and continued commitment to serving the 15 communities that call the Y home.
Throughout the year, the North Suburban YMCA continues to expand its reach through programs and initiatives focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. As a nonprofit organization, the Y remains committed to ensuring that everyone has access to opportunities that support their physical, mental, and social well-being, regardless of financial circumstances.
The Y also continues to bring the community together through a variety of events, educational opportunities, and wellness initiatives designed to engage people of all ages. This year, several exciting new events were added including SeniorPLAYooza, a senior-focused experience encouraging guests to participate in games and activities designed to stimulate the mind and promote social connection; and KidPalooza, a family-focused event showcasing the any programs offered at the Y, with activities for children and families of all ages. The Y also reimagined its signature Community Strong Fundraiser, introducing a new venue and an exciting live music concert experience.
Looking ahead, NSYMCA CEO Kathy Fielding shared the organization's vision for the coming year, including expanded programming, stronger community connections, and a comprehensive campaign focused on modernizing the facility, enhancing safety and security, expanding opportunities, and strengthening the Y's future.
"We are incredibly proud of what our Y has accomplished and, more importantly, the lives we have been able to impact throughout the year," said Kathy Fielding, CEO of the NSYMCA. "Our success is a reflection of the dedication of our staff, volunteers, members, donors, and community partners. It takes a village to do what we do at the Y and we are so very grateful."
The Annual Meeting also recognized the leadership and dedication of the NSYMCA Board of Directors, whose members generously volunteer their time and expertise to guide the organization's mission and long-term vision.
The 2026–2027 NSYMCA Board of Directors includes Chair President Anne O'Connor; Vice Chair Michael Redstone; Treasurer Larry Koekler; Secretary Steven Elisco; At-Large Todd Heller; and Immediate Past Chair Jim Tuchler.
