The Vernon Township Community Mental Health Board (VTCMHB) is now accepting grant applications from nonprofits and agencies that serve Township residents, and support those challenged with mental health issues, substance use, and developmental or intellectual disabilities. The grants, in part, represent the Board's ongoing commitment to expanding access to these essential community-based services.

The grants represent the second round of Fiscal Year 2027 funding and are intended to supplement or help to expand current services available – including counseling, therapy, crisis intervention, and support for youth, families and older adults. Applications are due December 30, 2026, and the VTCMHB will announce funding decisions in early 2027.

Organizations that have not previously applied for or received a grant from the VTCMHB are especially encouraged to participate, in addition to returning organizations who continue to have a need. "Our goal is to make sure every resident, regardless of income or circumstance, can access the support services they need," said VTCMHB President Noelle Moore. "As we celebrate four years of service, we remain committed to building a stronger, healthier community. We encourage nonprofit organizations to explore this funding opportunity and join us in making a real difference for our residents in times of need."

Beyond awarding grants, the VTCMHB raises awareness and shares helpful information through its "Mental Health Minute" video and blog series. Created in collaboration with grant recipients, the series offers brief videos and educational articles that highlight the different service areas and specific services available through organizations that serve the Township.

Topics include reducing social isolation for older adults, promoting children's mental health, encouraging independence for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and navigating substance use treatment and recovery. Each resource reinforces an important message: help is available. Explore the entire series at vernontownship.com/304/Mental-Health-Minute.

The VTCMHB's Community Grant Program plays an important role in ensuring local mental health tax dollars support programs that make a difference in the lives of individuals and families living in Vernon Township.

Since the beginning of the fiscal year, the VTCMHB has awarded more than $1 million in grant funds to nearly 30 organizations that demonstrated effective service delivery. These investments are meant to strengthen the local network of care and connect individuals and families with resources that support their overall well-being.
