Applications Available for Lake Forest Citizens Fire Academy

Third annual class will run for six weeks in October and November.

The third annual Citizens Fire Academy, hosted by the Lake Forest Fire Department, will kick off on Thursday, October 1 and run every Thursday for six weeks, ending on November 5.

Interested participants must be 18 years of age and either reside or own a business in Lake Forest or Lake Bluff. An enrollment application can be obtained from the Fire Department on the city’s website.

“This is an interactive program designed to familiarize the citizens of the areas we serve with the personnel, equipment, and operations of the Fire Department,” according to a city news release. “It also provides a forum for the Department and citizens to share information and concerns.”

Topics discussed at the Academy will include fire apparatus and engine operations, incident command, auto extrication and ladder truck operations, among others.
