Bike Rodeo Returns To Lake Forest
Saturday's free family bike safety event will giveaways, prizes and a demonstration from a top-ranked 11-year-old BMX rider.

LAKE FOREST, IL — The Lake Forest Police Department's annual bike rodeo returns Saturday after weather forced the cancellation of the sixth edition of the event last year. The free family event focused on bicycle safety is set for 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot on Deerpath Road at Oakwood Avenue.
The rodeo will feature a demonstration from a local BMX champion, prizes and giveaways. Kids will have a chance to show off this cycling skills at several challenge courses and safety stations.
Police plan free bike prizes, games and inflatables. There will also be a chance to win a free youth bicycle and giveaways from local businesses. Each qualified registrant will receive a free t-shirt and helmet.

National BMX champion Marshall "Major" Gehrke, an 11-year-old Antioch resident is the son of a Lake Bluff police officer, will also be on hand to show off his freestyle riding skills.
Police asked those interested in attending to bring their own bikes and helmets. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to June 30. Participants will need to register and sign a waiver to take part in the event. Online pre-registration is available.
