WAUKEGAN, IL - A bone marrow drive will be held at a Waukegan elementary school in honor of an 11-year-old survivor of Aplastic Amenia.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part in the drive, which only requires a swab of one's cheek.
"Swabbing your cheek is all it takes to register as a potential donor," according to a news release about the event, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Anastasia School, 629 West Glen Flora Ave. in Waukegan.

The drive is in honor of Chase Perusky, who was fortunate enough to receive a lifesaving bone marrow transplant in October. Perusky is a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and was able to watch the team's World Series victory on the heels of celebrating a life-saving victory of his own.
The non-profit DKMS, which is leading the fight against blood cancer, will lead the drive.
