Career Discovery Workshop: Find your path with purpose!

On Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 7:00-9:30 p.m., Catherine Driscoll will host a Career Discovery Workshop at Gorton Community Center.

Research suggests that up to 80% of people are not happy in their current jobs because there is a mismatch between what they are good at doing and what they are currently doing.

“While it is not uncommon for us to spend two weeks planning the perfect one-week vacation, most of us don’t take the time to really plan our careers,” explains Catherine Driscoll, the creator and leader of the Career Discovery Workshop. “We tend to move in directions that become available to us, and not necessarily because we’ve really thought it through or chosen that direction.”

The Career Discovery Workshop is the first step in defining your path with purpose. Attendees will leave with an increased self-awareness and focus; a catalogue of unique skills and abilities, strengths and aspirations to use in resumes and LinkedIn profiles; clearly established lifestyle, career and financial goals; an understanding of what motivates you to action; the tools to develop a roadmap to achieve life and work balance.

Who will benefit from this workshop? Men and women interested in re-entering the workforce; career professionals who want to rise up the ladder or are ready to make a career change; high schools and college students with undeclared majors; and stay-at-home parents and retirees who are seeking fulfillment will benefit from this insightful process.

“I think that this workshop could be valuable to anybody,” said Leah Drummond, an employed recent college graduate and past workshop participant. “It gave me the opportunity to safely talk about my different interests, goals and ideas. I gained the confidence to move forward in a particular direction that I’m truly excited about.”

“Overall, the workshop is phenomenal and truly eye-opening,” said Sierra Clark, graduating senior at Lake Forest College and another past workshop participant. “It had practical exercises and worthwhile information that I used in both my professional and personal life. What stands out about Catherine Driscoll is that she’s flexible, listens well, and has unique expertise. I would highly recommend it!”

Over the past 25 years, Catherine Driscoll has developed branding and marketing efforts for a diverse set of corporations, businesses and nonprofit organizations. She is widely respected as a dynamic public speaker, business development leader, and self-starter with extensive experience in developing organizational strategies that deliver positive business results.

“Marketing is a process,” Driscoll said. “The Career Discovery Workshop applies sound marketing principles to help people better understand themselves and capitalize on their strengths.”
