Construction on U.S. 41 to Cause Lane Reductions

The project is expected to get underway Monday.

A construction project is expected to cause road closures and lane reductions along U.S. Route 41 from Gurnee to Highland Park beginning on Monday, July 6.

In order to complete the work, U.S. 41 will have daytime lane reductions and closures from Illinois Route 21 to Park Avenue West, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation press release. The scope of work includes construction of shoulders, drainage and guardrail improvements, and traffic signal modernization.

The project will be complete by the end of October.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
