Deer Path Inn Closed for Renovation

Historic Lake Forest lodge will be renovated for next 15 months but expected to keep 20th century charm.

The famous Lake Forest hotel that has housed guests such as Ray Charles, Bill Murray and the Beach Boys will be closed for more than a year as renovations take place, the Lake Forester reports.

The Deer Path Inn was purchased in December 2013 by Lake Forest Investments, LLC., which “recognized the English Tudor-style building needed some serious work.”

Having closed in January, public spaces and guest rooms are being overhauled for the next 15 months. Modernizing the hotel to 21st century standards while keeping the 1920s charm is the goal for the location listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
