Des Plaines Man Asleep in Car Found With 17 Packets of Cocaine: Cops

DUI
Matthew J. Gillmore, 41, of Kenosha, Wis., was arrested and charged with driving under influence, speeding and improper lane use after an April 3 traffic stop.

Police pulled over Gilmore at about 3:28 a.m. after clocking him going 80 mph in a 55-mph zone and observing him swerving across lanes while traveling along Route 41 near Westleigh Road. Gilmore failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
Gilmore was held on $3,000 bail, and his next court date was May 27.

DUI
Igor V. Avilov, 53, of the 29500 block of Birch Avenue, Lake Bluff, was arrested and charged with driving under influence after a March 21 traffic stop.
After receiving a call at about 9 p.m. of an intoxicated man trying to leave in his car, police stopped Avilov before he drive out of a parking lot in the 1100 block of Pembridge Drive. During the stop, Avilov admitted to drinking and failed field sobriety tests.
Avilov was held on $3,000 bail, and his next court date was April 22.
POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
Darrick Hopkins, 37, of the 9900 block of Holly Lane, Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and felony driving under the influence after a March 20 traffic stop.
At about 7:13 p.m., police found Hopkins asleep in his parked car in the 300 block of Westleigh Road. An officer also reported finding 17 packets of cocaine on Hopkins.
Hopkins, who was charged with felony DUI because it was his fourth offense, was held on $75,000 bail, and his next court date is April 13.
