Drunk Man Chased After Fleeing Scene Of Accident: Lake Forest Crime Reports

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from the Lake Forest Police Department as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

SUSPENDED LICENSE

A 27-year-old Zion man was arrested Sept. 2 at 1:58 a.m. near the intersection of Route 60 and Ridge Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. Police were reportedly on routine patrol when they pulled over the man's 2000 Honda Civic for an equipment violation. Police learned his license had been suspended and arrested, processed and released him on bond.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, NO INSURANCE

A 51-year-old North Chicago man was arrested Sept. 2 at 7:58 p.m. near the intersection of Route 41 and Westleigh Road and charged with driving while license suspended. Police said they were responding to a report that a black Dodge Magnum had been spotted speeding and weaving in traffic. Police found the vehicle and stopped it for speeding. After speaking to the driver, they determined he had a suspended license and that his car did not have insurance. He was also issued citations for speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

DUI HIT-AND-RUN WITH NO LICENSE

Andri Yurchuk, 52, of the 0-100 block of Parkside Court, Vernon Hills, was arrested Sept. 3 at 9:08 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said they were responding to a report of a two-car crash near the area of Route 41 and Westleigh Road, but they did not initially find Yurchuk at the scene. Witnesses said he had run from the area on foot with someone chasing him. Police said an off-duty officer was witnessed escorting Yurchuk back to the scene, where he was detained by responding officers. Police said he demonstrated multiple signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and the strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Police said there were visible open containers of alcohol in his vehicle. After being asked to perform some field sobriety tests he was arrested for DUI, no valid driver's license and leaving the scene of an accident.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, CANNABIS

A 30-year-old Waukegan woman was arrested Sept. 4 at 1:59 a.m. near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath Road. An officer on routine patrol witnessed a 2016 Dodge Challenger driving with expired registration in the area. Police pulled over the car and spoke to the driver, who it was determined had a suspended Illinois driver's license. She was arrested and police found a bag of marijuana in the passenger area of the vehicle during a search to inventory her car. Police said she admitted to the ownership of the marijuana.
