Drunken Driving Involved With 2 Car Crashes on Route 41: Cops

DUI

Abraham G. Gomez, 29, of the 3000 block 22nd Place, North Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a July 15 accident.

Gomez was involved in a single-car accident along northbound Route 41, north of Westleigh Road, that involved a downed highway light pole and a deployed airbag. During an investigation of the crash scene, Gomez admitted to drinking before driving, and he failed field sobriety tests.

At the police station, Gomez took a breath test, which registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.096. The legal limit is 0.08.

Gomez was released on $3,000 bail, and his court date is Aug. 26.

DUI

Margarita Camacho, 45, of the 3000 block of North New England Avenue, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a June 15 two-car accident.

Camacho was involved in a crash with another vehicle along southbound Route 41, near Old Elm Road. At the scene, police determined Camacho had been drinking, and she failed field sobriety tests.

After being taken into custody, Camacho took a breath test, which registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.152, almost twice the legal limit.

She was released on $3,000 bail, and her court date is Aug. 26.
