Lake Forest Country Day School places an emphasis on rigorous academic and social emotional learning as the centerpiece of student education. Says Head of School Bob Whelan, “Sometimes people have the mistaken notion that focusing on social-emotional learning comes at the expense of academics, when in actuality, it serves to dramatically amplify a child’s success as a student,” noting that scores for students with social-emotional instruction are 11% higher than those of students without this training. With this in mind, Lake Forest Country Day School has invited Dr. Michael Thompson and Dr. Ned Hallowell to hold expert lectures on the impact of social emotional learning in school.
These expert-led events will be held at Lake Forest Country Day School in the front atrium of the school, located at 145 South Green Bay Road in Lake Forest. Both lectures are free and open to the public, but seating will be limited. To register for the event please visit: www.lfcds.org/speakerseries or call the main office at (847) 234-2350.
