'Ferris Fest' Will Mark 30th Anniversary of 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'
Meet some of the cast and tour the Chicago-area film sites connected to the iconic film during a May weekend in Lake Forest.

LAKE FOREST, IL - One of the most iconic and beloved films created by one of the most iconic and beloved directors will have an entire weekend dedicated to itself to mark its 30th Anniversary.
“Ferris Fest: A 30th Anniversary Leisure Weekend” will take place from May 20-22 at the John and Nancy Hughes Theater in Lake Forest, three weeks before the 30th anniversary of the release of Chicago film classic “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” - one of John Hughes’ finest creations.
“We’ve decided to put together a special weekend event that will feature a screening of the movie in a uniquely John Hughes-centric spot with stars of the film in attendance for a special Q&A, a tour of all the filming locations and musical guests,” is among the plans for the three-day festival, according to a website created for the event.

Noted Chicago film critic Richard Roeper will host the event and movie actors Cindy Pickett, Lyman Ward (Ferris Bueller’s parents) and Jonathan Schmock (the French restaurant maitre d’) will answer questions following a screening on Saturday, May 21.
Fans of the film starring Matthew Broderick will be able to walk through a recreation of Ferris’ bedroom and a reenactment of the parade Ferris crashed are also planned.

One of the film’s most memorable scenes, when Cameron’s father’s car is destroyed after going through a glass window, was filmed at a house in Highland Park. That same car from the scene is rumored to be making an appearance at Ferris Fest, according to the Chicagoist.
Tickets for the entire fest are $300.
