Firefighters Extinguish Residential Fire Blazing At Lake Forest Home

The Lake Forest Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Friday morning.

LAKE FOREST, IL — A fire broke out on the lower levels of a Lake Forest home Friday morning, according to local authorities.

At about 11:15 a.m., the Lake Forest Fire Department responded to the reported fire near the intersection of Waukegan Road and Winwood Drive. When they arrived, the homeowners told firefighters that the first floor was filling with smoke.

"Firefighters verified that there was smoke on the first floor and in the basement, located the source of the fire, and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews then ventilated the residence to remove remaining smoke," the department said in a statement.

No injuries were reported in this incident, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.

Fire department officials reminded residents to ensure smoke detectors are working properly and to call 911 immediately if smoke or fire is detected.
