Foot Pursuit Leads to Arrest

After allegedly not paying for cab fare, a Gurnee man tried to flee police at the Lake Forest east train station.

The following information is from the Lake Forest Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

OBSTRUCTING A POLICE OFFICER

Maxwell P. Sorby, 19, Gurnee was charged with obstructing a police officer at 1:47 a.m. on January 23 at the Lake Forest east train station. Reports indicate an officer on patrol was flagged down by a cab driver, who complained Sorby had refused to pay his fare and left the cab. The officer located Sorby walking a short distance away. Sorby fled from the officer on foot but was caught after a foot pursuit.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

James C. Lawson, 66, Kenosha, Wisc. was arrested for driving under the influence at 6:35 p.m. on January 24 at Route 41 and Westleigh. Police responded to a call complaint of a possibly impaired driver on Route 41. An officer stopped Lawson, who failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He later submitted a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol content of 0.285. Lawson was cited for improper lane usage and driving under the influence of alcohol.
