Former Evanston Resident Found Shot To Death In North Chicago

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man found dead Sunday morning on Greenfield Avenue.

NORTH CHICAGO, IL — A man found shot to death in North Chicago over the weekend has been identified as a 35-year-old former Evanston resident. Shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to a home in the 1700 block of Greenfield Avenue for a report of an unresponsive person.

Benson Saintil, 35, of North Chicago, was found at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Lake County Major Crime Task Force and coroner's office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The preliminary autopsy results indicate he died from injuries caused by gunshots," Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said Monday.

Saintil's death is being investigated as a homicide, as North Chicago police requested the assistance of The Lake County Major Crime Task Force.
