Former Lake Bluff Teacher Investigated For Sexual Abuse of Students

Investigation includes charges the teacher lured kids at Lake Bluff Middle School with beer and porn while he taught there from 1975-1985.

LAKE BLUFF, IL - A former teacher at Lake Bluff Middle School is under investigation for alleged sexual abuse involving students over a ten-year period from 1975-1985.

The teacher under investigation by the Lake Bluff Police Department and Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has been identified as Charles Ritz by the Orange County Register, Lake Bluff School District 65 Superintendent Jean Sophie and an alleged victim in an interview with the Daily North Shore.

A private Facebook page set up recently by students at LBMS at the time spearheaded the discussion over the alleged abuse, which included enticing students with beer and pornography and making sexual advances.

Ritz resigned from his teaching post in Lake Bluff in September of 1985 - the same day he was informed by school administrators he was being considered for termination over “unacceptable behavior” toward his students - according to the Register.

He began teaching in California in 1986 and was employed by a school district there as recently as May of this year.
