Gas Restored After Morning Leak Downtown

About 25 businesses were evacuated Monday morning in downtown Lake Forest.

LAKE FOREST, IL - Lake Forest fire officials confirmed Monday afternoon they responded to a leak from a main in the 200 block of east Westminster downtown.

About 25 businesses had been evacuated but were later allowed to reopen.

North Shore Gas arrived shortly after the incident was reported at 9:15 a.m. and had to excavate in order to reach the valve, according to a news release.

Gas is expected to be restored to the area Monday evening as a temporary fix is put in place.

A permanent fix will be put in Tuesday with no service interruptions.
