Gorton's Movie Night - Good Ol' Boy

Thursday, May 5 Time: 7:30 PM Location: John & Nancy Hughes Theater Ticket price online: $11.00 Tickets at the door: $13.00

Some obsessions last a lifetime, as a curious Hindu American boy growing up in suburban Seattle discovers in this romantic comedy. Caught between the traditional aspirations of his stern parents and his own thoroughly modern mindset, Smith (his father’s idea of an American name) is introduced at the age of ten to his arranged future bride via the snapshot his folks tack up in the dining room, next to the photo of his older sister’s similarly arranged husband-to-be. The unfamiliar American concept of puppy love rears its head, and Smith has it bad for the girl next door, inadvertently aided and abetted by her amiable doofus dad (Lee). DCP digital. DCP digital widescreen. 104 minutes running time. Rated NR. Frank Lotito, director.

Through the innocent eyes of Smith, the viewer experiences first love, the heartache that comes along with that, adjusting to a new place, and coming of age. The film is upbeat, comical, and nostalgic in all the right ways. ~ What's Hot What's Next
