Hands-On Safety Experience At The Citizens Fire Academy

Learn from Lake Forest firefighters and paramedics Thursday nights at the Public Safety Building.

LAKE FOREST, IL — Residents and business owners in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff have a chance to learn about the services provided by local firefighters and paramedics with a hands-on approach at the Citizens Fire Academy, Thursdays 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 255 W. Deerpath Rd.

With demonstrations and participation, attendees in the Fire Academy will learn how to keep their homes and workplaces safer through fire extinguishing techniques and prevention.

Topics covered at the Lake Forest Citizens Fire Academy will include:

  • History and overview of the Fire Department
  • Fire apparatus/Engine operations
  • Fire gear and Emergency Medical Services
  • Incident Command
  • Mutual Aid
  • Auto Extrication
  • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
  • Ladder Truck Operations
  • Fire Prevention
  • Special Teams
