Heritage Festival: Here's A Complete Guide To 150th Anniversary Event

Saturday's variety of activities figures to draw large crowd to Market Square.

Rain or shine, Saturday will be a full day at Market Square when the Heritage Festival starts with an Ice Cream Social at 2 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. with a laser and light show.

Schedule:

  • 2 - 4 p.m., Ice Cream Social. Enjoy homemade ice cream from Capannari's while a barbershop quartet performs.
  • 3:30 - 5:45 p.m., Jazz Artist Clark Sommers. graduate fills Market Square with cool sounds.
  • 4:30 - 8 p.m., Taste of Lake Forest. A variety of food from 10 Lake Forest businesses.
  • 6:30 - 9:30 p.m., Concert. The Ronnie Baker Blues Band will serve as the opening act for headliner Dave Mason.
  • 9:30 p.m., Laser/Light Show. A showcasing of historical photos, accompanied by music, lights and lasers.

 

Street Closures:

Beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday

  • Oakwood Avenue will be closed from Deerpath to Westminster.
  • Forest Avenue will be closed from Deerpath to Westminster.
  • Bank Lane will be closed from Deerpath to Westminster.
  • Western Avenue will be closed from Deerpath to Westminster.
  • Market Square will be closed.
  • The Oakwood Avenue, City Hall and Forest Avenue parking lots will also be closed.
  • Police may close other streets for short periods of time as pedestrian safety dictates.


Available Parking:

  • East Side Train Station Lots.
  • parking lot and front lawn (lawn open at 3 p.m.).

  • Former Municipal Services Building on Laurel Avenue (open at 3 p.m.).

  • Special Handicapped parking will be available on Deerpath just east of City Hall and on Westminster in front of , .

 

Alternative Transportation:

  • People can be creative and take the train to downtown Lake Forest from Ft. Sheridan or Lake Bluff as well.
