LAKE FOREST-LAKE BLUFF — The following information comes from the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police departments and court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

HOME BURGLARIES
Lake Forest police were dispatched to three calls of residential burglaries between midnight and 5:45 a.m. on May 11 in the west side of Lake Forest in the area of Route 60 and Route 43. Officers determined burglars had gotten into homes in the 800 block of Mellody Road, the 500 block of Stable Lane and the 800 block of Tisbury Lane through unlocked doors and searched their kitchens. There were no signs of forced entry, and wallets, cash, credit cards, a briefcase, purse and car keys were reported stolen. Several of the homeowners were at home and asleep during the burglaries. ARRESTS

James Ray Nalls, 63, of the 5900 block of 19th Avenue in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on April 21 in the 1300 block of Skokie Valley Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08, driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage. Officers dispatched to a call of a black Saturn SUV driving erratically noticed a matching vehicle drifting over the center line and pulled it over. Police reported the driver, Nalls, provided a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol concentration of 0.239 and was in possession of an open bottle of whiskey and what appeared to be a pipe used for smoking cocaine. Nalls is due to be arraigned on June 21.

A 55-year-old Lake Bluff man was arrested around 8 p.m. on April 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol after police were called to the 100 block of Sheridan Road for a suspicious vehicle and found him asleep in the the driver's seat of a parked car with his pants around his ankles and a blood alcohol concentration over three times the legal limit for intoxication, police said. On May 17, village prosecutors dropped all charges after the man was found dead in Waukegan, according to village staff.

Michael Kaprelian, 33, of the 700 block of Sheridan Road, Lake Bluff, was arrested around 8 p.m. on April 29 and charged with felony driving under the influence of alcohol due to previous convictions after officers were told he had just left his house drunk. Kaprelian said he was not driving at the time, but police charged him with felony driving under the influence after noting what appeared to be fresh damage and interviewing him and a witness. Prosecutors filed felony charges May 10, and Kaprelian is due to be arraigned June 5.

Lucio Cordova, 32, of the 1400 block of Leith Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on May 3 in the area of Green Bay Road and Warrington Drive and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater, driving without a license and possession of a controlled substance. Police said he was speeding northbound in a gold minivan on his way home from work in Lake Forest. When pulled over, Cordova was only able to provide a Mexican identification card, and a check determined he did not have a valid license. Police said the car smelled of alcohol and the driver failed field sobriety tests. An officer reported finding four small plastic bags with a white powder that tested positive for cocaine. Cordova provided a breath sample shortly after 3 a.m. indicating his blood alcohol concentration was 0.141, nearly twice the legal limit for intoxication. He was also issued citations for having only one red taillight and speeding between 11 and 14 mph above the limit.

Hugh Williams, 58, of the 1100 block of Fairview Avenue, Lake Forest, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on May 9 at his home and charged with two counts of domestic battery.

Hermilo Morales-Jimenez, 48, of the 2400 block of West Dougdale Road, Waukegan, was arrested at 5:38 p.m. on May 14 in the area of Waukegan Road and Coventry Drive on an active arrest warrant connected to a charge of failing to appear in court following an arrest in Elgin and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without valid insurance.

Nathaniel Whitfield, 20, of the 900 block of Tisbury Lane, Lake Forest, was arrested on May 17 in the 500 block of Western Avenue following a investigation into the suspected sale and delivery of narcotics and THC cartridges. Detectives carried out surveillance and multiple controlled purchases in Lake Forest and nearby, police reported. Prosecutors approved two felony counts of delivery of between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis and one misdemeanor count of possession of between 10 and 30 grams of cannabis as a first offense.
