Home Burglary Crew Charged In 2 Counties Over North Shore Break-Ins
A 35-year-old Chicago man is accused of contributing to a delinquency of two teen boys as they burglarized homes in Glencoe and Green Oaks.

WAUKEGAN, IL — North suburban detectives disrupted a home burglary crew made up of a man and two teenage boys from Chicago, authorities said.
Al Miller, 35, of the 5700 block of Higgins Avenue, has been ordered held at Cook County Jail in lieu of the $7,500 cash portion of his bond following his arrest earlier this month in Glencoe, records show.
Authorities said Miller was taken into custody on the afternoon of Dec. 10 in the 11000 block of Pebblewood Lane in Glencoe after members of NORTAF, the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force, who had been conducting surveillance on the crew, spotted them breaking into somebody's house.

Cook County prosecutors charged Miller with residential burglary, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of burglary tools and driving an uninsured vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, according to the Glencoe public safety officials.

At the time, Miller and his 16- and 17-year-old accomplices had been identified as the burglars who carried out a Nov. 19 home burglary in the 31000 block of O'Plaine Road in Green Oaks, according to a spokesperson for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, which worked with NORTAF investigators in the case.

Investigators believe the same crew also carried out a home burglary in Long Grove around the time of last month's incident in Green Oaks, and prosecutors are likely to file additional charges, the spokesperson said.
On Friday, a judge approved a two-count warrant for Miller's arrest on charges of residential burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor — a class X felony with a six-year mandatory minimum sentence because the crime the minor allegedly committed was residential burglary, a class 1 felony.
Miller is set to be transferred to the Lake County Jail following court proceedings in Cook County, while the two teenagers will be petitioned delinquent in Lake County Juvenile Court, according to the sheriff's office.
There is also an active DuPage County warrant for Miller's arrest in connection with another allegation of home burglary.
“I credit thorough investigative work and multi-jurisdictional collaboration with the success of this case," Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said in a statement. "When law-enforcement work together, we are able to identity and arrest those who prey on others.”
