Home Invasion in Zion Ends With Man Shot, Wife Injured

Three men with guns stormed into an apartment in Zion just after midnight Friday morning.

ZION, IL - A man was shot and his wife injured early Friday morning in a home invasion on Elisha Avenue in Zion.

Three men, at least two of them African-American according to a police report, stormed the couple’s home shortly after midnight while the victims were having dinner in their apartment shortly after the female victim returned home from work the Chicago Tribune reports.

The three men described as being in their 20s or early 30s were all armed with handguns and forced open the door to the apartment occupied by the 59-year-old man and 57-year-old woman.

The man was shot by one of the invaders during a struggle while the woman sustained an injury in an attempt to flee.

The man was found near the front of the apartment by police and is now recovering at a nearby hospital.

An adult son was present during the invasion but was not injured.
