Labor Day 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, IL — The dog days of summer are winding down, and we've get one last weekend before the school year and fall activities get into full swing. Labor Day 2017 is Monday, Sept. 4. And while it's a day of rest and relaxation for many, it's also a federal holiday, meaning many local services and offices will be closed.

Here's a roundup of what's closed and what'll be open in Lake Forest, plus a look at some fun events happening in Chicagoland.

Open

Most big-box retailers will be open — and many are offering Labor Day deals — but smaller businesses and mom and pop stores might be closed, so it's a good idea to call ahead.

Art Fair on the Square

The 63rd Annual Art Fair on the Square, the Deer Path Art League's highlight of the year, takes place Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free, two-day, juried fine art show brings over 20,000 attendees to Market Square each year to celebrate.

Parking

Holiday parking restrictions will be in effect.

Trash pickup

There will be no refuse or recycling collection in Lake Forest on Monday. Monday collection will move to Tuesday, Tuesday collection will move to Wednesday, Thursday and Friday collections remain the same.
